What To Know About Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Beta

Red Dead Online, the multiplayer mode for the hit game Red Dead Redemption 2 has landed for select gamers. The online beta is being released in a staggered setting to reduce the stress on servers and give everyone the best possible experience. Rockstar Games seem to be making this choice because of the issues that Grand Theft Auto V had on their initial online launch. With that said there are some key things that you NEED to know before heading into to the online Wild West. When can YOU play, what game modes will there be, and how is the player customization?

When Can YOU Play Red Dead Online?

In order to relieve stress on servers and quickly combat bugs, Rockstar Games have wisely chosen to stagger the initial launch of Red Dead Online. Below are the listed dates and details and when Red Dead Online servers go live.

  • Tuesday November 27th: All Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultimate Edition owners. Please note, players who purchased the physical Ultimate Edition must redeem the Ultimate Edition code in the packaging to be eligible.

  • Wednesday November 28th: All players who played Red Dead Redemption 2 on October 26th according to their data.

  • Thursday November 29th: All players who played Red Dead Redemption 2 between October 26th to October 29th according to their data.

  • Friday November 30th: All players who own Red Dead Redemption 2.

Red Dead Battle Royale?

A shooter game is 2018-2019 seemingly can’t be released without some form of Battle Royale game mode. While most assumed Red Dead would release a Battle Royale of their own, it wasn’t confirmed until very recently.  The much-rumored Red Dead Battle Royale is indeed a part of the game, but has it’s own unique twist.

The game mode is called ‘Make It Count’, and that right there makes my hair stand! My initial thoughts are a ‘One In The Chamber’ feel from Call of Duty: Black Ops, mixed with a heart racing last man standing. ‘Make It Count’ pits 32 players against one another in a survival death match, with a shrinking map all around. Without a doubt the best twist is that players only have bows and a handful of throwing knifes. This sets the stage for the ultimate stealthy cowboy Battle Royale!

Character Creation

One of the most interesting details about Red Dead Online we questioned was how much freedom were we going to be given when creating our characters? From what we have seen so far, we are very pleased with the high level of customization each character is given.

Adjust the age of your character, give them a few scary looking scars, or even go full gums with no teeth! The facial hair options and colors all seem super fun to play around with and we are all excited to jump into the Online Wild West! What will your Red Dead character look like?
